Data released for 2019 reveal that the city of Austin recorded a total of 40,541 crimes. Violent crimes accounted for 3,953 of the crimes, while property crimes accounted for 36,588. Larceny was the most common property crime with 29,216 cases, followed by burglary with 4,344 reported cases.
